Should drivers be limited to 20mph on all residential streets? Have your say

Since the year 2000, more than 50,000 brits have lost their lives in accidents on our nation’s roads. Of that total, vulnerable pedestrians and bikers account for more than half of the UK’s road fatalities.

In order to cut these stark numbers, the Welsh Government voted overwhelmingly this month to implement a 20mph speed limit on every residential road in Wales. Upping the number of 20MPH streets from just 2.5 per cent of all roads in Wales to more than a third.

These slower speeds have been shown to reduce accidents, fatalities, and cut pollution on the roads where we live and walk our children to school. A pedestrian hit at 30mph has a one in five chance of being killed, at 20mph this drops to one in 40.
